Safety and Quality in IVF Clinics in Ukraine
IVF centers in Ukraine need to obtain and maintain a license from the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine to operate. They get inspected at regular intervals to guarantee that all standards and requirements are met. Some clinics also obtain ISO certification by implementing and operating a gold standard quality management system.
Results from IVF clinics get submitted every year to the Ukrainian Association of Reproductive Medicine. This information is additionally reported to the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

Maternal Spindle Transfer and Pronuclear Transfer
Poor egg quality is one of the main causes of repeated assisted reproduction treatments; in such situations, donor eggs are commonly recommended and used, and many moms-to-be struggled to come to terms with it. Maternal Spindle Transfer allows for the moms-to-be to still be the genetic parent of the child, even when donor eggs are used.
By transferring the egg spindle (which contains the genetic material) of the intended mother into a healthy donor egg (which had its spindle removed), more than 99.99% of the DNA in the baby will come from the intended parents. Besides poor egg quality, Maternal Spindle Transfer also gives women suffering from mitochondrial diseases the chance of having healthy children.
Another type of mitochondrial replacement therapy (MRT) available is called Pronuclear Transfer. In Pronuclear Transfer, the intended father’s sperm is used to generate two fertilized eggs, and then the nucleus from the fertilized egg of the intended mother is transferred into the fertilized egg of the egg donor which had its nucleus removed in advance.
Maternal Spindle Transfer and Pronuclear Transfer is currently only available in limited countries such as Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
